Golfing

Lake Arrowhead Country Club is a place where bald eagles glide over fairways shouldered by towering sugar pines and incense cedars. Where you can stop and listen to the cool winds in the lofty trees, the lapping of clear water, the superb silence of serenity.

The club of choice for discerning golfers for over 40 years, LACC is a fully appointed facility with a magnificent tennis venue and beautifully situated swimming pool and aquatic deck.

Less than two hours from Los Angeles, San Diego or Palm Springs; Lake Arrowhead Country Club is a mile high oasis of pleasure for avid golfers, enthusiastic tennis players and busy families looking for a relaxing escape from the heat and humdrum of life "down-below". To visit once is to want to stay forever.

Golf in Lake Arrowhead dates back to the 1930's when the rolling pastureland of Grass Valley was molded into nine holes of bucolic golf. In the early 1960's the back nine was carved out of nearby hills and ravines that serpentine away from the clubhouse and then back.

The front nine plays open with lakes and streams that challenge errant shot making. The undulating back nine plays tight with wayward shots sternly punished by fall offs and dense woodland.

Unlike the nearby desert courses in Palm Springs , where gentle nature has been overlaid on a harsh wasteland, at Lake Arrowhead Country Club the golfer feels he is one with nature, a privileged visitor, passing through a very special natural place. A place where hawks and eagles glide through fairways shouldered by towering sugar pines and incense cedars dating back hundreds of years.

And most important, if you stop and just listen, you hear the cool wind in the trees, the lapping of clear water, the superb silence of serenity.

From any of the six hard courts and one clay court that make up the Lake Arrowhead Country Club Tennis Facility you see lakes and mountains and blue sky — truly there are few more spectacularly set tennis venues in the world.

Overlooking the tennis courts is a spacious and well-stocked tennis pro shop that is adjacent to an umbrella shaded viewing deck.

During the season, May 1st through September, the ATPA pros are pleased to improve your game with lessons and clinics or to arrange games with players of your own skill level.

Tennis can be played nearly year-round. But perhaps the best time of year to play is in the stunning days of Indian summer, October and November, when the air is crisp, the sun is warm and the surrounding oaks, maples and aspen are a riot of color.

Set in an amphitheatre of towering pines, the Lake Arrowhead swimming pool and aquatic deck recently have been remodeled to include an expansive extension that allows eye-filling views of greater Grass Valley . As an extension of the Summit Dining Room, it serves as a pleasant venue for barbeques, parties and casual summer dinners.

With a nearby play area for children and food service available throughout the day, the heated pool and aquatic deck are an ideal place for families to spend relaxing hours during the summer.

Trained and certified lifeguards ensure safety as well as promoting swim lessons and poolside activities. Changing rooms and bathrooms are adjacent to the pool

The Summit is the main dining area at the Club. Its traditional design, accented with a Craftsman touch, makes for a warm, yet elegant, setting. Seating almost 200 diners, it overlooks the course through 30' high walls of glass. There are two very private verandas seating 4-6 that may be reserved for business lunches or romantic dinners.

A dining balcony and large aquatic deck adorned with umbrella shaded tables complete the setting. Summer dinners and barbecues take advantage of the pleasant evening breezes and breathtaking panoramic vistas.

The restaurant is open for Breakfast and Lunch most days during the season, and dinner four evening a week; Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Monday during the season. Menu items vary from health conscious low-fat selections to exquisite gourmet items and robust cuts of top quality meat.

Dining facilities are open every day during the season with reduced hours and menu selections during the spring and fall. The Clubhouse is open all year, but, in the winter, only prescheduled parties and events are held.
